Farewell Party Invitation Greetings

The question to most of us is that following:

How can we practice to confront the unconscious?

By 1916 Jung developed the outlines of the confrontation is fueled by his own experience and that of many analysands who came to visit. In his book

and soul Self , Jung devotes some space in the process of individuation. From several examples, it outlines the major steps in this confrontation known as active imagination which takes the transcendent function.

Jung cites several sources from which materials unconscious cross the threshold of consciousness: dreams, interference unconscious in the waking state, omissions, symptomatic acts, fantasies spontaneous ... But often these elements do not to give voice to the unconscious. Also, when training is to decrease the attention criticism, which can accommodate the fantasies that emerge gradually from the unconscious.

But what about these fantasies? In the first note and combinations thereof. People who can draw, paint or sculpt, can give a tangible form to their representations.

Jung said "We must leave as much slack as possible to the fantasy, but not to the point it leaves the orbit of its object, that is to say, the affect, by triggering a process associative string (1) ". Exercise is difficult because most often the fantasies are linked to each other so continues. According

personal disposition of each, and unintentionally, emphasis is placed on the formatting or the understanding of different fantasies. Too much emphasis on shaping occult understanding, if understanding it takes over so many useful details that are ignored. Jung says "Shaping requires comprehension of the aesthetic sense, and understanding needs formatting aesthetics. Thus the two tendencies combine to form the transcendent function (2)" .

When the contents of the unconscious are properly shaped and understood, then begins the confrontation between the self and the unconscious step in the process. Here the danger that threatens the fantasies overwhelm me or that it overwrites the contents of the unconscious newly formed. "Facing the unconscious must be that the ego retains its value, and vice versa (3)" says Jung.

At this stage we should not underestimate the risks of such a confrontation, but reconciliation of opposites and the emergence of a third term should encourage us to continue because "this is a way to break free under its own power and find the courage to access self (4) ".

I am well aware of treating a difficult subject, which is difficult to place in a single ticket, and I encourage you to learn more read the following two books:
